“If your actions inspire others to dream more, learn more, do more and become more, then you are a leader.” – John Quincy Adams.
Investiture Ceremony, one of the most important ceremonies and a traditional feature of Vatsalya International School, was organised on 8th July, 2017 to pass on the baton of authority and power on the newly elected Students Council for the academic session 2017-18.
The delegation of responsibility and conferring of authority to children is a crucial step to cultivate in them lifelong skills of being responsible and caring. It grooms them towards becoming exemplary national citizens. Every year the school provides the students an opportunity to imbibe in them the true qualities of leadership that can help them blossom as global citizens and meet all challenges in their life. Newly appointed council members were adorned with sashes and received the badges from our revered Swamis and the school Principal. The Principal, in his speech, emphasized on the importance of discipline and dignity of the individual and the school. The new Head Boy and House leaders, in their speeches, promised a definite change for a better tomorrow. This was followed by the entire council taking oath to discharge their duties with sincerity and fulfill everyone’s expectations.

On 7th of August 2017, the students of class XI of Vatsalya International School, Borsad observed Senior Citizen’s Day by paying a visit to an old age home near Petlad, Dist. Anand. It was a distinguished opportunity to share their love, warmth and feelings with the people, solitary or neglected. In their tearful eyes, reverberating laughter and wrinkled faces, the students saw the vivid reflection of their grandparents.
Being in their company for a few hours, they developed a bond that would be cherished for years to come. Students indulged in entertaining the elderly and bringing precious smiles on their faces. Later, refreshment was also distributed into senior citizens. Many of the inmates involved in the various activities and relived their fond memories of the past. The students were also informed about the living style and conditions of the old-age home. Our students also honored them with a small token of love and received their blessings and guidance. It was an enriching experience for all the students to visit the old age home and interact with its inmates.
The Principal, on this occasion, reflected that it is a reality that children forget their parents, who devote their whole life to make their wards but when they need support, their children send them to old age home. It was also highlighted that these people also play an extremely important role in the society. Moreover as they are old, they are more experienced as they have gone through ups and downs in their lives. Thus we should show respect and take care of such people and not isolate them but make them also feel a part of the family or society.
To wrap it up in simple words, it was a wonderful experience and an opportunity to discover empathy within ourselves. Above all, Senior citizens deserve to retire with dignity
