YOGA DAY

25-06 2016

INTERNATIONAL YOGA DAY 21st June.2016, Tuesday. On the occasion of International Yoga Day, V I S BORSAD planned yoga sessions for the pre-school children. More than 150 students participated actively in this event. This is one of the areas of study undertaken by Maria Montessori, known as “embodied learning” that highlights the connection between mind and body in her book “The Secret of Childhood Movement Or Physical Activity” published in1936. Yoga thus is an essential factor in the intellectual growth in a child, which depends upon the impressions received from the environment. Our children live in a chaotic world of busy parents, school pressures, incessant lessons, video games, malls, and competitive sports. We usually don’t think of these influences as stressful for our kids, but often they are. The bustling pace of our children’s lives can have a profound effect on their innate joy—and usually not for the better. I have found that yoga can help counter these pressures. When children learn techniques for self-health, relaxation, and inner fulfillment, they can navigate life’s challenges with a little more ease. Yoga at an early age encourages self-esteem and body awareness with a physical activity that’s non competitive. Fostering cooperation and compassion—instead of opposition—is a great gift to give to our children. Children derive enormous benefits from yoga. Physically, it enhances their flexibility, strength, coordination, and body awareness. In addition, their concentration, sense of calmness and relaxation improves. Doing yoga, children exercise, play, connect more deeply with the inner self, and develop an intimate relationship with the natural world that surrounds them .I believe that Yoga brings marvelous inner light that all the children should have.

Earth Day

27-04 2016

“Earth provides enough to satisfy every man's needs, but not every man's greed.” ? Mahatma Gandhi “Save the Earth”, “save your life”, is the call of the day and the need of the hour. The 22nd of April is observed as Earth Day globally. Thus, in order to pertain to this important event, we at Vatsalya brought about an awareness, among the Primary Section students, on how important it is to save the earth, in order to save our own lives and our future. This event was organized with a skit competition by the students of class 3 who expressed their intrinsic feelings and emotions towards our planet, through their performances, which they put up stalwartly. We had the students of various classes present several coherent topics, in an open forum, which included:- 3A- Global Warming - Class Teacher – Mrs. Suchira Bhowmik 3B- Save Water - Class Teacher – Mrs. Rupa Verma 3C- How Can We save The Earth - Class Teacher – Mrs. Mallika Mrs. Nishat Ahmed and Mrs. Marshilla Parmar judged the competition and declared class 3rd B as the best performers. Mr. Sunny Soni the dance teacher put up a dance with the class 2 students. The children of today are the entrepreneurs of tomorrow. They are the iconic figures, in the making. Thus, with the awareness of the dwindling condition of their planet, we hope to build for the near future, entrepreneurs and tycoons, with reformed and ecological mindsets. HOD, Primary

The participants, armed with statistics and data made their arguments more emphatic with their righteous facial expressions, body movement and gestures. All the four teams exhibited great oratorical skills. The competition was as expected laced with more nail biting moments and an intense face off. We aim big to achieve big.
