Artificial Intelligence and the Transformation of Education

02-09 2020

The transition of education to online models due to COVID-19 has highlighted the large digital deficiencies that exist in the educational system in many countries, universities and primary and secondary schools throughout the world.
Gone are the days of library visits to photocopy a few pages from an Encyclopedia for a school project; thanks to a generation that has grown up with technology at their fingertips, school children, and even kindergartners, live in a world where education has changed, and where the internet is their primary source of entertainment and information. Chalkboards and photostats in the classroom are also a thing of the past, with the availability of smart technology such as interactive whiteboards, IT suites, and tablet-based learning becoming more commonplace in schools
Our school has introduced Artificial Intelligence courses to make our student familiar with changing world. According to the statistics given by the Human Resource & Development (HRD)Ministry of India in 2016, there is a shortage of 1 million teachers across the country. In the case of Universities and Colleges, there is a chronic shortage of faculty and the problem of finding qualified people to fill this gap has become even more complicated.
Artificial Intelligence is presented as one of the key technological levers in the transformation of education. Artificial Intelligence helps find out what a student does and does not know, building a personalized study schedule for each learner considering the knowledge gaps. In such a way, AI tailors’ studies according to student’s specific needs, increasing their efficiency.

Academic year 2020-21

08-04 2020

Academic year 2020-21 brought new challenges and new opportunities for students as well as teachers. The outbreak of pandemic of Covid-19 impacted the teaching sector badly. We are proud that Vatsalya International School in Borsad was amongst the first few schools in rural area to introduce the online teaching for its students. When other institutions were struggling to figure out a way to reach its pupils, Vatsalya was already on its way to mitigate academic loses of its students.
To keep the students engaged Vatsalya introduced and made available an online software so that students can utilise their time smartly. From time to time teachers conducted online Parents teachers meet to motivate and engage parents as well in nurturing their child. We also introduced several norms and guidelines for parents and students to maintain sense of discipline and responsibility in our students.
We are proud that we were able to conduct 75 online extracurricular activities thus providing platform of overall growth for all of our students. Vatsalya encouraged the students and parents to strengthen the family bond by conducting activities in which whole families of students took part. We conducted online prefect investiture ceremony to enhance the leadership qualities of our students.
For higher classes we were able to resume in person classes following all the standard operating procedures. For middle and primary school we continued the online classes throughout the year 2020-21 keeping the safety and well being of our students paramount. We also tested our students learning on various parameters by successfully conducting online examination using multiple online tools.
As a whole we had a successful academic year rather I should say online academic year. We are proud that we were able to extend the helping hands for all of our students and accept and implement this new normal.

TRAVEL AND EXPLORE

08-02 2020

The highlight of any school for its students is always to include field trips. As a part of an educational tour the students of Class IX were taken to Kutch to give a peek-a-boo into the rich, ancient culture of the city. They were taken to the Vijay Vilas Palace followed by the majestic Jain Temple. The students were also taken to the India Bridge Check Post from where the Indo-Pak border is 80kms away. On the second day they were taken to Nirona Village where the world famous Rogan Art originates. At Gandhinugam they got a glimpse of the handicraft and wooden craft work and a way of lifestyle of the villagers. The much awaited Rann of Kutch was visited in the afternoon where students roistered over the vast white desert. The students were thrilled as they were taken to the shopping stalls in the Rann. The Pragmahal, Aaina Mahal and the museum was also in the itenarary. They came back with a memory to cherish forever.

A trip to Majestic beauty-Bakore

08-02 2020

“Classroom is not the only place for learning; nature is the best classroom where we can learn many things”. Vatsalya doesn’t miss any opportunity to encourage the students to learn from nature. Students of class VII had a trip to Bakore, a beautiful village, situated in Mahisagar District of Gujarat, located close to Rajasthan Border. The trip was for 3 days from 1st January, which made an excellent beginning of the year. On the first day students visited a lake in the forest which is the home for many exotic birds like Pied kingfisher, Greater Coucal, little Cormorant and some Parakeets. On the second day students enjoyed the view of the spectacular Adadari waterfall amidst the Aravali hills, which has marked a venturesome experience. On the final day of the tour students visited the Kaleshwari temple, Mother-in-law step well and Daughter-in-law step well which are famous heritage sites. Apart from adventure and enjoyment, students also learned to adjust with the situation and respect nature. Spending time with nature increases the energy flow in the body, mind and soul, which helps to rejuvenate ourselves.
