The Vatsalya International School celebrated its 10th annual sports day on December 27, 2014 in the Vatsalya Campus. Shri Ashok Kumar (IPS) Superintendent of Police, Mr. BimalBhatt (AB Land, Baroda) presided over the fun - filled event. Our Chairman Shree Balswarupdasji, Managing Trustee Shree Nirlepswarupdasji, Principal and Vice Principal encouraged our students with their speeches. Our energetic students performed various track and field events, drills Lezium display, pompom drills funny races and aerobics drills.Our sports day began with Olympic torch relay lit by the chief guest followed by the march past. The higher class student scorched the racing tracks. After the track events and fun games were over, the champions were declared. Jupiter house bagged the overall championship. Finally I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to the management, principal, vice principal and all the staff members for giving an excellent support.

In school exhibition took place on the topic valuing our heritage .Students learnt about the international heritage of China France UK and India. They learnt about the historical monuments, structures, environment and natural heritage of these countries. They identified the renowned heritage of China, France, UK and India. They made the models of the international heritage monuments of the mentioned countries and also prepared a project book comprising of pictures, related stories and facts about international heritage. They realized the importance of conserving and preserving heritage site and understood the role of heritage in the economy of the countries.

Disasters are situations or events which overwhelm local capacity, necessitating a request to national or international level for assistance. "Disaster management" can be defined as the range of activities designed to maintain control over disaster and emergency situations and to provide a framework for helping at-risk persons to avoid or recover from the impact of the disaster. Disaster management deals with situations that occur prior to, during, and after the disaster. It is a need of the hour that all the stakeholders in this disaster management system right from the central authorities to the students should be aware of the damage and the looses caused by disasters and a sense of preparedness, rescue, recovery and mitigation should be developed in them. This activity was the first step to evoke such psychological preparedness among students.

The activity was categorized basically in four phases:

1. PHASE I : Introduction to disasters
2. PHASE II : Classification of disasters
3. PHASE III : Model making
4. PHASE IV : Power point presentations (Explaining various disasters and its management)

On 4th Dec,2014 Vatsalya has taken the giant step to spread awareness about the cleanliness mission launched by Hon. Narendra Modi. Through well planned street play conducted by std X students in Gujarati and Hindi they caught the attention of the Borsad and proved an eye opener for all. Std. X students were divided in two groups one for spreading awareness and others for systematic implementation of the message through actual action. Their performance around the bus stand and main market street touched a chord among the hundreds of hearts present there. All passerby's , passengers and shopkeepers appreciated the efforts of the students . They gave active participation in the programme and took the oath to keep the premises clean.

School Management, Administration and Staff also took part in the mission along with students. VATSALYA BELIVES FIRMLY THAT "CLEANLINESS IS NEXT TO GODLINESS".
